Announcements

Lerners is proud to announce that Partner Sandev Singh Purewal has been awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship, one of the province’s highest civilian honours.

The Queen Elizabeth II Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship recognizes individuals who have made exceptional, long-standing contributions to their communities through volunteer service and civic leadership. Sandev’s nearly two decades of dedication to advancing child safety, access to justice and legal mentorship across Ontario exemplify the spirit and purpose of this prestigious award.

Sandev has played a significant leadership role within Ontario’s legal and advocacy communities. He is a Past President of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) and a Past President of the Brain Injury Association of Peel and Halton, where he has championed fairness and support for injured and vulnerable Ontarians. As the founder of Peel’s Helmets on Kids, Sandev has helped provide thousands of children with bicycle helmets and vital safety education, contributing to safer communities across the region.

A committed mentor, Sandev is generous with his time and experience, both within Lerners and beyond. He continues to guide emerging legal professionals through the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers and the South Asian Bar Association of Toronto, strengthening the legal profession and supporting the next generation of leaders.

Ontario formally recognized Sandev during a ceremony at Queen’s Park in Toronto, where 20 recipients from across the province received the 2024 and 2025 Queen Elizabeth II Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship. Please join us in congratulating Sandev on this remarkable achievement and thanking him for his outstanding service, leadership and lasting impact on our communities.
