Lerners traces its roots to 1929, when Mayer Lerner established the firm in London, Ontario—at a time when the city’s Jewish community was still very small. Following the Second World War, Mayer was joined by his brother, Sam Lerner, and together they built a practice defined by perseverance, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to serving clients.

From those early beginnings, Lerners has grown into one of Ontario’s leading full-service law firms, while never losing sight of the values of resilience and determination that shaped its foundation. In 1991, the firm made history by becoming the first law firm in Ontario to appoint a female managing partner, Janet Stewart, a milestone that reflected its longstanding commitment to leadership and progress within the legal profession.
