About Halla
Halla is an associate in the Health Law and Specialty Risk and Insurance practice groups in the Toronto office of Lerners LLP. Her practice focuses on professional liability, constitutional, and class action law matters.
Prior to working at Lerners LLP, Halla worked at a prominent civil litigation boutique in Toronto, where she gained extensive experience in commercial, constitutional, health, insurance, and class action law matters. She also served as a judicial law clerk at the Superior Court of Justice, Central West Region, where she supported judges with trials, motions, judicial review and statutory appeals, and case conferences, as well as in preparations for legal education seminars and presentations.
Halla provides excellent written and oral advocacy and has broad experience representing clients in a wide range of civil litigation matters before professional regulatory bodies, tribunals, and superior and appellate courts. Halla has appeared before all levels of court, tribunals, and professional regulatory bodies in both Ontario and British Columbia on administrative, constitutional, and insurance law matters. She has also assisted lead counsel on trials, judicial reviews, certification hearings, and appeals before the Ontario, B.C., and Alberta superior and appellate courts.
In her spare time, Halla is active in community advocacy. She regularly volunteers for Pro Bono Ontario’s free legal advice hotline and organizes and participates in community events that focus on youth civic engagement, inclusivity in the legal profession, and mentorship for Black and Muslim youth. To this end, Halla sits on the boards of Say Somaali, a Black, youth-led organization that supports Somali youth through mentorship and leadership training, and the Muslim Legal Support Centre, a non-profit organization that promotes fair treatment and access to justice for Muslims of limited means in Ontario through legal services, education, and advocacy.
