Every Client is Unique

Jane Scholes is a partner in Lerners’ London office with a diverse advisory and dispute resolution practice. She works with clients across a wide range of sectors, with particular experience in education, regulated professions, and healthcare. She assists with regulatory investigations and proceedings, commercial and business disputes, workplace issues including discrimination and harassment and wrongful termination, and policy advice, among others. She is also a certified as an independent workplace investigator and is experienced in conducting investigations into sensitive and high-profile issues.

Drawing on her expertise and strategic skills, Jane aims to find the best resolution for any client in the circumstances. There are many paths to resolution. Jane is a skilled and strategic negotiator, but where necessary, she is prepared to advocate fearlessly and persuasively in court or before tribunals.

With aproven track record in advocacy, Jane has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario and before the Supreme Court of Canada, as well as various specialized tribunals including the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board.

“My ability to ensure my clients feel heard and empowered define my approach to client service,” explains Jane. “Every client is unique. Understanding a client’s circumstances and goals is a critical starting point; if you don’t take the time to understand your client, you cannot truly help them.”

With a business degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at Western University, she has exceptional business acumen and an ability to understand the strategic and financial aspects of client issues.

“As a lawyer, my job is to advise clients on their options so that they can make informed decisions about their legal matters,” explains Jane. “From there, I can use my advocacy skills to give them the best possible chance at their desired outcome.”

Active in the community, Jane sits on the Board of Directors of the Grand Theatre. Passionate about inclusion, Jane pays it forward as a mentor to law students and associates and in speaking engagements. She was honoured with Top 20 Under 40 recognition by London Inc. Magazine in 2024.

In her spare time, Jane enjoys travel with her young children, exercise, and her new-found interest in pickleball.
