Big City, Big Opportunity
Are you looking to build a rewarding legal career that blends professional excellence with personal fulfillment?
Our Toronto office offers the best of both worlds: the excitement of big city litigation with the camaraderie of a close-knit team. We believe in supporting well-rounded professionals who thrive in and out of the courtroom.
We Pride Ourselves on Developing Tomorrow's Lawyers
Since 1929, Lerners has welcomed generations of law students who began their careers with us. Our commitment to legal excellence is matched only by our dedication to teaching and mentoring. You won’t just observe — you will participate and collaborate on challenging files to evolve into the lawyer you aspire to be.
Why Toronto?
Our Toronto location offers high-impact legal experience with access to some of the country’s leading litigators. You can expect:
Challenging files in a variety of litigation-related practice areas.
A dynamic team culture that encourages initiative and supports growth.
The cultural energy of Canada’s largest city, with great food, music, and diverse neighbourhoods to explore.
Hands-on Experience with Real Impact
As a student in our Toronto office, you’ll work alongside top litigators in a fast-paced, supportive environment. Expect meaningful assignments, courtroom exposure, and the chance to build practice management skills from day one.
Professional and Personal Development
We prioritize continuing growth and personalized feedback. Our Toronto team is known for its openness and for building genuine and enduring connections. We foster a collegial workplace where you can grow to your full potential.
Plus, many articling students give back through firm charity events, local volunteer work, or serving on community boards. While launching your career as a lawyer, you can help shape a better community.
Money Talks
Our Toronto articling students receive a salary competitive with Toronto firms. In addition to receiving their salary during articles, articling students will also be paid for 15 days while they are studying for and writing their licensing examinations.
Toronto articling students also receive comprehensive dental and extended health coverage, a fitness/travel allowance and payment of LSO licensing fees.
Mentorship that Matters
Mentors frequently check in, grab lunch, or simply lend a listening ear. Each articling student is matched with a Junior Mentor, an associate lawyer who answers questions and provides day-to-day support and a Senior Mentor, a partner who offers career guidance, coaching, and participates in your formal evaluations.
Beyond students’ formal mentors, all our lawyers welcome the opportunity to connect with our articling students. From litigation techniques to career strategies, we’re here to help you grow.
