The fine art of fast-tracking a divorce

Family law lawyers and their clients know there is usually a 30-day waiting period between when a divorce judgment is renderred and the day on which it becomes effective. This period is intended to allow for an appeal and last-minute reconciliation attempts. While the court can exercise its discretion to abridge the 30-day waiting period, many of us are unfamiliar with these special circumstances.
