Jan 24, 2018

Congratulations to our friend and colleague, Julie McDonald, who received a 2018 Community Recognition Award on January 18th from London West MPP Peggy Sattler at her annual New Year’s Levee.

This award recognizes Julie’s commitment to the London community for the past 20 years through her volunteer work. Julie has most recently been involved with fundraising for Sexual Assault Centre London (now Anova), event planning with Women’s Events Committee, and mentoring young women enrolled at Fanshawe College. Julie is committed to building community and is a strong advocate for ending violence against women and LGBTQ2S+ inclusion. She is passionate about hosting inclusive and accessible events and leads the planning of annual events like Take Back the Night, International Women’s Day Dance and Women’s Pride Party.

Julie was recently invited to join the Education and Awareness Sub-Committee, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Oppression Advisory Committee, City of London through her organizing and activism with Women’s Events Committee.
